Pressure Point Massager Review

Photo is by the author of this page. It is a photo of me using the Pressure Point Massager with one hand, on my upper leg. My cat Muffin is looking on; she probably wants my lap.

The Pressure Point Massager is a hand held massage tool, that has two handles, one on each outer edge, with a section of three massage roller balls that sit in the middle, in between the two handles.

The roller balls have rounded pointy nodules, that extend out from each ball, all the way around. As you roll the unit, the handles stay stationary, the balls roll over the area that you are addressing. As the balls roll, the various nubs on the balls apply pressure as you push or pull the unit along the area that you are working on. The pressure is determined by how much pressure the person holding the handles is using.

The handles have a soft rubber type coating, which gives me a good grip when using the massage tool.

I have found it best to use the unit with two hands; the pressure is not as great when I only use one hand; but with some areas, you can only use one hand, i.e. massaging the other arm.

My experience:
Whether I use one hand or both hands, I have found this unit to be a great way to work on targeted areas to release muscle tension and or tightness. I can use it to reach most places. I can massage my arms with it, by using just one handle. When using two handles, I am able to reach my lower back as well as my upper back. (It is not the best option to reach in between my shoulder blades though.) It is also great though for the front, sides, and backs of my legs.

If you know anything about massage, it is normally recommended to apply heavier pressure as you apply movement that goes toward your heart, and lighter pressure as you take the movement away from your heart. For instance, I would press harder as I move the roller balls from my knee area towards my thigh, and I would apply less pressure, if any, as I rolled the unit away from my thigh towards my knee.

After using the Pressure Point Massager, I usually feel improvement in the way my muscles feel; they feel lighter to me. Of course, though, feelings vary depending upon the reason for using the unit in the first place, the amount of pressure applied, and the mobility of the person using the unit.

In my own personal use, I have found it to be helpful. I do prefer to use the massage tool over a layer of clothing; it is more comfortable.

If you have an injury or have any questions about whether you should use a massage roller, check with a licensed physician.
